Holiday Lip Colors We Love

Desk-to-drinks season is upon us. For the next few weeks you’ll find yourself dashing from the 9-to-5 to cocktails quite a bit and the perfect lip color is essential. It’s the thing brightens the face and pulls it all together in an instant. Check below as we share some selfies wearing a few of our favorite lip colors of the season.

A glossy pink like Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Garnet is always fun for the holidays because it’s not always expected. It’s also perfect if you want to dabble in brighter lip colors---the glossy finish makes it easier to get your toes wet. I love a color like this with a matte gold dress----the right amount of contrast in both color and texture.

I love playing up my eyes during this time of year---I’m talking smoky eyes, lashes, full brows---the whole shebang. My long-time fave pinky mauve lip which I’ve dubbed my Chanel lip combo partners well with a dramatic eye. I love pairing a makeup look like this with a full-on winter white outfit.

My go-to holiday lip varies by my mood. Somedays I want to be super low key, but still feel polished. Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Forever Brown is my perfect in between shade. It’s there but not, overpowering. It makes a statement (Hi, I’m polished.), but without being too loud or out there.

A dark lipstick can be high maintenance -- especially for someone like me who is always eating. One way I get past the need to re-touch lips is to opt for a somewhat creamier formula.  That way as it fades it has kind of an ombre look on my lips and I look trendy rather than like someone who ate off half her lip color. Black Opal Wine Not is great if you want a dark lip without committing to stay away from food.

When I want to go girly, I reach for L’OREAL Colour Riche Le Matte Lip Pen in Matte For Me. It’s a very flirty pink with a soft, flat finish. I love pairing this look with a winged cat eye and LOADS of mascara. The look is so soft & sweet!

No matter the season a red lipstick is a must. Lately I have been reaching for First Class by Gold Label Cosmetics.  It is a creamy red that glides easily onto the lips leaving them enveloped in color but not dried out.  You can't go wrong with a red lip -- don't let anyone tell you differently.

A pinky-brown lip color is as close to nude as I can get without looking like Tyrone Biggums.  My combo of choice is Lorac Pro Matte Lip Color in  Rose Brown with just a touch of gloss in the center.  It's perfect if I am casually meeting girlfriends for drinks, headed to the mall or if I am  looking for something to pair with an intense smokey eye.

I absolutely LOVE Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme in Embrace. It’s the perfect compromise between a blue-red and a bold pink. I want you to push the button and “go-there” with a shade like this and pair it with bold holiday colors like hunter green or cobalt---they’re perfect complements not to mention how amazing it’ll look in photos.

I’m the mom of a toddler and by the end of the day, I am drained #RealTalk. But afterwork press events beckon and when I need to totally distract from my under eye baggage and overall look of exhaustion, I reach for LA Girls Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Backstage. It is everything and more. The color is like POW in a tube! It pulls together my look and delivers the utmost glamour...in a flash.
