Christene's At-home Facial

Step 1: Eve Lom Cleanser

I started my at-home facial with the Eve Lom Cleanser. It is the first-ever cleansing balm I used, and it still remains a favorite. The scent always takes me back. As with all cleansing balms and oils, you start by massaging it into dry skin then emulsifying it with water to help rinse it clean. Using the cleanser with the muslin cloth gives a lovely clean and enhances that spa-like feel of your at-home facial.

Step 2:  DHC Face Wash Powder

Though I wasn't wearing makeup (which is usually when I double cleanse), it was still a double cleanse kind of day. I followed with the DHC Face Wash Powder. This powder to foaming cleanser removed every bit of residue from my skin without leaving it feeling dry. Since I would be doing a peel after, I wanted to ensure my skin was thoroughly clean.

Step 3: Dr. Paw Paw Scrub and Nourish

If you are anything like me, dry, chapped lips are a no-no. While staying hydrated helps, every now and then, a little lip scrub is in order.  Enter Dr. Paw Paw Sugar lip scrub. I like to massage it in the right as I start steaming my face. The sugar granules work to lift dead skin cells while the steam melts the sugar and allows the oils to help soften and moisturize my lips.

Step 4: Steam

As you may know, steaming is one of my favorite steps in my at-home facial; it helps to decongest the pores and prep skin for upcoming treatments. After steaming, I did light manual extractions in my T-zone. I kept it simple to ensure my skin wasn't irritated before applying my peel.

Step 5: Exuviance Advanced Series Performance Peel AP25

After steaming, I dried my face with these cute little silk-wrapped DHC cotton pads and followed with the Exuviance Advanced Series Performance Peel AP25. Felicia highly recommends this peel as one of the best at-home peeling systems on the market. This was my first time using it, so I followed the directions to the letter.

This two-step peel "contains a 25% blend of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA), including Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, and Gluconolactone." Peels such as this exfoliate and refine the outermost layer of the skin. The end result is skin with fewer lines and wrinkles, a reduction in pores' appearance, and a brighter, more even-toned, radiant complexion. The pack contains 12 treatments. At the end of 6 weeks, you will look as though you have been to the spa. If you have hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, fine lines, and wrinkles, add this to your “must try” list.

Step 6: Flash Hydro-Boost Instant Plumping Emulsion

After applying a chemical (or physical) exfoliant, it's always best to follow with lots of nourishing moisture. This week I used Flash Hydro-Boost Instant Plumping Emulsion. It contains Hyaluronic acid and Xylitol (which works similarly to glycerin.) Both ingredients boost moisture levels by attracting water to the skin. Per the instructions, after massaging it into my skin, I added water (Laroche Posay Thermal Water) to reactivate and "super-charge skin with moisture." Re-wetting also allowed me to massage face, neck, and décolleté.

Step 7: Laroche Posay Lipikar Balm

I followed up with my new favorite face-to-feet moisturizer, the Laroche Posay Lipikar Balm. I apply it all over my face, including under my eye. It's made with a "high concentration of La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water and exclusive, patented Aqua e Posae Filiformis, an ingredient developed in La Roche-Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water." This fantastic moisturizer also contains Shea Butter & Glycerin, and Niacinamide. I can't sing the LaRoche Posay Lipikar Balm enough praises. It's a rich, fragrance-free moisturizer that works for the whole family, even babies!

Step 8:  Dr. Paw Paw Scrub and Nourish

I seal my routine with the "nourish" part of the Dr. Paw Paw Scrub and Nourish. The balm contains a blend of botanical oils and extracts to lock in moisture and refine the look of your lips.

Step 1: Eve Lom Cleansing Oil Capsules

Some days I like to tiptoe back to the classics, and today's cleanse is just that — Classic, but make it new. Eve Lom Cleansing Oil Capsules remind me of the iconic cleansing balm but in oil form. The single-use, biodegradable capsules contain the brand's signature blend of Eucalyptus, Clove, Egyptian Chamomile, and Hops. This fragrance combo makes me feel like I'm actually in a spa and not at home in my basement bathroom. This first step dissolves impurities and softens my skin.

Step 2: Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Citrus Brightening Cleanser

Doing extra is my business, and that's what I do on my "at-home" facial days. My double cleanse du jour is Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Citrus Brightening Cleanser. Hyperpigmentation has been coming for your girl HARD. So I sneak in a little Vitamin C every chance I get.

Step 3: Eve Lom Rescue Mask

Right now, my face needs a hero — enter Eve Lom Rescue Mask. It contains kaolin clay to soak up excess oil and reduce puffiness, camphor to soothe and unclog pores, super finely milled almonds to lightly exfoliate, and honey to condition the skin.

Step 4: Doctor Babor Power Serum Ampoules

Staying in a Vitamin C state-of-mind, I have Doctor Babor Power Serum Ampoules on tap. The Vitamin C Serum, which is perfect for improving dull skin, contains 20% stable Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, and Linoleic. In addition to boosting radiance, the formulation protects against environmental aggressors and helps with the appearance of fine lines. One ampoule is generous enough face, neck, décolletage, and back of hands — so treat yourself!

Step 5: Perricone MD Soothing & Hydrating Eye Cream

Lately, I've been applying my face creams and serums closer to my eyes. And because at-home facials feel extra ceremonious, I'm going with a CBD-infused eye cream. Perricone MD Soothing & Hydrating Eye Cream is formulated with 99% pure CBD. I'm more chill just thinking about it. The light, delicate texture absorbs instantly and feels heavenly around my entire eye. (Not available at SkinStore.com.)

Step 6: Eve Lom Moisture Lotion

When my skin tells me to keep it simple, I listen. Eve Lom Moisture Lotion feels right because it's oil-free and is highly hydrating. It also offers anti-pollution and antioxidant defense. While I tend to gravitate toward dewy face creams, I like how this one hydrates in a shine-free manner, but my skin still feels plump and balanced. If you like hyaluronic acid-based face lotions, this one is a must.
